Performing Company

The NESD&T Performing Company provides dancers with the opportunity to perform at local & national competitions & events. Students ages 5 & up will gain confidence, performing experience & a sense of teamwork in an inspiring environment customized to their age & class level.

Auditions

NESD Summer Intensive Audition: June 24th-29th

Dancers interested in Auditioning for the performing company are required to take the NESD&T summer intensive. This will serve as your audition for the 2024/2025 season! You will be considered for group dances, duets/trios and solos. Tap classes will not be included in the summer intensive, but will be offered as a weekly technique class during our summer technique classes. Any dancer interested in performing in a tap piece this season, must take these classes as their tap audition.

Fall Performing Company & Nutcracker Audition: Saturday, September 14th

NESD&T Performing Company dancers are required to audition for The Nutcracker!

● Ages 5-7: 11:30-12:30 PM

● Ages 8-10: 12:45-1:45 PM

● Ages 11+: 2:15-3:30 PM

Cost: $30 per dancer, or $50 per family

Requirements/Recommendations & Performing Company Cost:

Dancers may be placed in one of our four performing companies by our staff based on ability, age, leadership skills, and more. While most dancers will be chosen for the company within their age bracket, it has happened in the past that dancers are a better fit for another company; in this event we would work with your family to adjust requirements accordingly. Highlighted schedules personalized for each dancer can be picked up in the office the week of May 19th. Should your child express an interest in auditioning for our performing company, their class requirements would be as follows:

Ages 5-8:

3+ classes (At least one ballet or ballet combo class)

Ages 8+:

5+ classes (At least one ballet class)

Mini Performing Company

Approx. Ages 5-8

Dances & Choreography:

● 1-2 required group dances

○ Mini company group piece (choreographed during weekly rehearsal time starting in the fall)

○ Choreography for the Company Production will take place during our Summer Choreography Session

(7/21-8/17- see more info in Events & Fee’s Calendar)

○ Dancers may be considered for a duet/trio & or solo if they have been on the PC for at least one year

○ Conflicts during the Summer Choreography Session must be listed on your audition form prior to the

Summer intensive

○ A Choreography Cleaning & Review Session will be held 9/20-9/22

Rehearsals:

1 hour full company rehearsal per week
Solos & Duet/Trio must schedule a 15 minute - 1 hour private lesson session per week

Petite Performing Company

Approx. Ages 7-10

Commitment Level 1:
- 1-2 group pieces
- “Company Production” & 1 group piece (Choreographed during our Summer Choreography Session - Between 7/21-8/17 (see more info in separate table below).
- Conflicts during the Summer Choreography Session must be listed on your audition form prior to the Summer intensive
- A Choreography Cleaning & Review Session will be held 9/20-9/22

- 3+ group pieces
